The Study on Providing Alternative Thinking Strategy with Illustration for Writing Skills of Hearing Impaired Children
Bilingual and bicultural approach is a new radical shift in the field of education for hearing impaired children as a language teaching method. The purpose of this study was to illustrate the effects on providing alternative thinking(PATH) strategy with illustration for writing skills of hearing impaired children. Eight hearing impaired children in the level of middle school were participated for this study. Thirty six sessions with PATH were applied and pre- and post-test were utilized. The PATH strategy was not effective to increase the changes of sentence forms and vocabularies. However, the PATH is effective to increase the correct sentences. This study concluded that the writing skills of the hearing impaired children was stereotyped with some forms even though the correct sentences was increased. Therefore this study suggested that various strategies have to be applied to increase writing skills when the hearing impaired children learn writing skills as a second language in the early stage.
