Literature Review on the Intervention Studies for Students with Mental Retardation in Korea
The purpose of this study was to review intervention studies for children with mental retardation and present suggestions for future studies in the field. For this, the authors did extensive search for the studies in special education related journals in Korea, and found a total of 100 articles. Quantitative analysis was employed and the results was as followings .First, the intervention studies on children with mental retardation was increasing in Korea, and the rate of intervention studies to mental retardation research was also increasing. Second, the age range of the most researched subjects in the studies was 9~11, and the severity level of I.Q. score of more than 90% of subjects belongs to mild or moderate. Special school teachers and their classrooms were the most researched as instructor and intervention place.Third, the most researched design and analysis method were single subject design and its visual analysis on the graphs.Fourth, (music, art, or gardening) theraphy was most researched theme as independent variable, and language/communication as dependent variable.
