Effects of Nutrient Components on the Plant Growth and Grain Quality of Rice in Hydroponics Culture
This study was carried out to obtain the basic information on change of plant growth and rice grain quality of rice depending on nutrient component using different hydroponics modified from Salake Koike's method. The used variety was Mangeumbyeo and nutrient solution was changed two times per week. Nutrient applications were composed of nine treatments such as control, 3 times solution of nitrogen, potassium, magnesium, and sodium and none of nitrogen, potassium, magnesium, and sodium. Culm length and dry weight were positively responded by nitrogen application. And by N application shoot growth was accelerated rather than root development, so that increase of T/R rate was accompanied. Heading stage was delayed 3 days and 2 days in the plots of no magnesium and no sodium, respectively, compared with control. Leaf color(SPAD value) was peaked at heading stage and went down thereafter, showing dark color at high nitrogen level. The values by N were not affected by the treatment of no magnesium and no sodium in hydroponics, but were largely decreased by potassium deficiency after ripening stage. Ripened grain rate of rice was decreased by the deficiency of either potassium or sodium in hydroponic solution. Complete grain rate of rice was positively affected by the potassium concentration and was decreased by the excess and lack of sodium. The damaged grain rate was increased by not only lack but excess state of nitrogen in hydroponic solution.
