The Influence of Teacher-Child Relation and teacher's creative role on Interactive Peer Play

    The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of Teacher-Child Relation and teacher's creative role on Interactive Peer Play of young children. The study subjects were 113 young children from kindergartens and child care centers. The Instruments were The Penn Interactive Peer Play Scale(PIPPS; Fantuzzo, et al., 1998), Student-Teacher Relationship Scale(STRS; Pianta and Steinberg, 1992), and Interactive Peer Play Scale(Moon Mi Ok, 1999). The collected data were analyzed by Pearson's r and multiple regression using the SPSS/PC Computer Program. The main findings of this study were as follows; First, there was significant positive relationship between teacher-child relation and play interaction. And there were significant negative relationship between teacher-child relation and play disruption and play disconnection. And there were significant positive relationship between flow & perseverance of teacher's creative role and play interaction. And there was significant negative relationship between flow & perseverance of teacher's creative role and play disruption. Second, intimacy was positive factor in predicting play interaction, and conflict and dependence were positive factor in predicting play disruption and play disconnection. Third, fluency of teacher's creative role was negative factor in predicting play interaction, and flow & perseverance of teacher's creative role was negative factor in predicting play disruption.
