The Profit Maximization Strategy by Internatioalizing Korean Professional Soccer Games: Focusing on the Advanced Soccer League Cases

    The European Soccer League with World Cup attracts the world attention and a huge capital is moving into it. Especially, lots of global cooperations are investing on the world big three leagues, England Premier League, Italy Serie A, and Spain Primera Division. Their risen popularity increased not only broadcasting right fees, character goods sales, and other profitable businesses but also the huge capital amount. These three big leagues are entering into the global market and the upper clubs of them yields huge profits by their internationalization strategies. Korean soccer fans have many opportunities to enjoy soccer games by the successful Korea-Japan United World Cup game, domestically enhanced leisure chances, the rise in stadium culture, and mass media popularization and so on. However, Korean professional soccer game, K-league, is at the crucial moment by the economic recession and the decreased onlookers, who are much interested in the international games like the Korea national team. So, the internationalization of K-league is indispensable for the sustainable growth of domestically professional soccer games. This paper studied the present trends of European League and Asian League. Also, the successfully internationalized cases of representative soccer clubs were analysed. In conclusion, the internationalization possibility of domestically professional K-league and its profit maximization strategies were suggested.
