This thesis is to focus on Dao, Xing, and Zhiguo and to study on Chen-jingyuan's Laoxue of Taoism and its meaning in History of Taoism philosophy. Chen-jingyuan is most famous Taoist and Taoism philosopher in North Song Era. Chen-jingyuan's commentary on and had a tremendous impact on Song-Yuan era's Taoism. First of all, Chen-jingyuan comprehends Dao as two different ways to understand Creation and Road, that is, the origin of all things in the universe and for all things in the world to follow. Dao as creation creates all things in the world through Qi as a carrier. Qi is Taiji and created by Dao. Only Dao is the ultimate origin of all things in the universe. Dao as road includes both Changdao and Kedao, that is, Wuweiziran and Renyilizhixin. Secondly, Chen-jingyuan divides Xing into Tianxing and Shuxing; Tianxing is an innate nature and Shuxing is a acquired nature. Tianxing obtained from Dao and Shuxing obtained from Qi. Everyone has the same innate nature, but people become different according to their disposition. Shuxing decide on one's social position and duty. Therefore, human beings need to learn by Fuxing, the way of recovering an innate nature, and Buyuexingfen, the way of keeping their lots in accordance to their disposition. Lastly, Chen-jingyuan presents Wuwei as a basic principal of governing a nation. Wuwei is the political way for people to live with thier lots. Renyilizhixin is an essential element for governing a country. Taoism' daode and Confucianism' renyilizhixin have a coadjutant relationship in philosophy of society and politics. Laoxue of Taoism of Chen-jingyuan is formed through succeeding Taoism of Late Tang and Neidanxue of North Song, that is, School of Chen-tuan and simultaneously, absorbing the scholastic trend of thought of North Song. Chen-jingyuan pursues the unity of Confucianism and Taoism focusing on Taoism; furthermore, it seeks the unity of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. As a result, Chen-jingyuan shows the way to develop Taoism after North Song Era.
