Analysis of Important Factors in the Participation of Adult learners in the Lifelong learning Using the AHP Method
This study analyzes the important factors in the participation of adult learners in lifelong learning using the Analytical Hierarchy Process(AHP) method. The AHP method was used to test a priority model. A dataset of 53 adult learners in the city of Daejeon and Chungnam was examined for both the relative importance and the priority of various factors in their participation in lifelong learning. The AHP model was applied in order to determine the weights of the evaluation items for gauging the level of importance of the factors influencing adult learners' participation in lifelong learning. Only the data for which the inconsistency ratio was below 0.1 were analyzed, given the consistency needed for AHP application. The results show the categories of participation in lifelong learning' can be ranked in the following order, from highest to lowest importance: 1) a learner's characteristics, 2) the environment of the lifelong education institution, 3) the lifelong learning program and lecturer quality, By order of relative importance, the factors in participation are 1) good programs, 2) a passion for learning, 3) certifications, 4) available time, 5) belonging and relationships, 6) easy accessibility of transportation, 7) comfortable facilities, 8) reasonable tuition, 9) high-quality lecturers, 10) employees' services.
