An Buddhist Social Ethics Approach to Contingent Workers' Perception and Attitude on those Job

    The commonly held benefits of turning to outside workers focus primarily on achieving flexibility to respond to changes in labor demands resulting from technological and environmental factors(Lepak, Takeuchi & Snell, 2003). Simultaneously, several scholars have suggested that externalization of labor may prove problematic, particularly if its use impedes a firm's commitment to the development and retention of core skills and orchestrated actions that contribute to successful innovation(change). Therefore, this study is attended to the buddhist social ethics at a practical dimension as well as the communitarian perspective of a firm at a theoretical dimension, and uses the Korea Labor Institute's 15th Labor Panel Survey data to analyze and interpret the relationship among contingent workers' perception and attitude on those job. The analytic results of the current study are as follows: Firstly, contingent workers' job satisfaction is negatively influenced to organizational commitment. Secondly, contingent workers' job satisfaction is positively influenced to life satisfaction and health. Lastly, knowledge level demanded on contingent work or expected contract termination is positively influenced to the relations between temporary workers' job satisfaction and organizational commitment as well as life satisfaction. The results of this study suggest that it should be provided skills development and HRD opportunities for temporary workers to enhance those feelings of organizational commitment, which reflected on subjectivity and collectivism attended by the buddhism. The present study shows that it will be necessary to carefully consider the roles HRD to realize the communitarian values(i.e., equality, participation etc.) into organizations.
