The Educational Application to the Space Theory of Henri Lefebvre: Focused on Curriculum
This research aims to apply the space theory of Henri Lefebvre to education. Lefebvre tried to view space from the multiple aspects rather than from the lopsided perspectives. In other words, space is a complex product of society, culture, politics and history, and such a complex space can create society, culture, politics and history. In addition, his space has characteristics of continuous production and change, rather than not being a statistic object. His space has the effects to view the place of life, called space, from the diversified points of view, giving many implications for modern constructivism education. Therefore, this paper intends to apply his space in an educational perspective. According to Lefebvre, space can be classified into spatial practice, spatial reconstruction and reconstructive space. Spatial practice refers to perception of space. Perception of space is to understand spatial production and its subsequent life. Therefore, it can be connected to social and cultural curricula. Spatial reconstruction refers to spatial recognition. Spatial recognition can be understood based on the time, regional, cultural and national characteristics of space. Therefore, it can be connected to the geographic curriculum. The next is to individually experience and express there constructive space. The reconstructive space is to have various experiences on space and express reflections on the experience. Therefore, it can be linked to literature or arts and music curricula.
