An Inductive Analysis for Squash Player's Cognizance of Referee Judgement
Through analyzing the factors that affect squash players thinking processes of the referee judgements, the study observes and gathers the baseline data in order to establish the reasonable and affective judgement system by drawing conclusion on the underlying problems of the current referee system. A sample of 70 people were chosen by the convenience sampling method under the conditions that they were the registered players of Korea Squash Federation from a population of 300 people from the high school youth division, the undergraduate division and the regular division. The semi-structured questionaries were used to build up the data, then categorized by the inductive analyzation which classify the data in multiple fields by the commonality of the questions. The result are shown below. The squash players realize the problems of the referee system in terms of the qualification of the referee and the application of the referee system which leads the psychological aspects of players during the game. It has been found that the three-person officiating referee system is the most preferable and fair among the squash players. The result also demonstrates that the players realize that the decision by multiple referees is fair, therefore makes the judgement more reliable. Finally, the players realizes that the extended application of the three-person officiation referee system and the improvement of the qualification of the referee is essential to reform the current referee system. As a result, in order to broaden awareness of the fairness of the referee system and judgement, it is essential not only to increase the number of the registered referees with the improved education and treatment of the judges but also expansion of the three-person officiation referee system and consistency of the system.
