A Study on the Early Childhood Profession for Intelligence Information Society
The purpose of this study is to explore the prospect and challenges of early childhood profession in the intelligence information society. The advent of intelligence information society is expected to be accompanied by a lot of changes in school system. Although there are lots of discussions on the competencies and qualities of teachers and the direction of teacher education in the intelligence information society, the discourse according to the school level is insufficient. Thus this study focuses on the early childhood education. The results of the study are as follows. First, emotional attributes that constitute the core of early childhood teachers' expertise have been regarded as a mechanism to weaken their professionalism in the past, but they are likely to become the main characteristics of occupations that can not be replaced by computerization. In addition, it is predicted that the use of artificial intelligence technology will expand and be complementary tools of teaching-learning method and teaching contents. Thus, the discussion on teacher education to enhance ability to use it is required. And the professional learning networks in parallel with the offline learning can serve as a place for the learning and development of teachers. Even though the likelihood that early childhood profession could be automated in next two decades is low, there are challenges for the early childhood profession such as low social status. Based on these findings, the need for redesigning the direction of early childhood education, supporting system for improvement of teachers' quality were suggested.
