고속가공용 엔드밀의 성능평가

Recently, due to rapid growth of die and mold industries, it is urgently required to maximize the productivity, the high efficiency and accuracy in machining. The technique of high speed machining(HSM) is widely studied in order to obtain these requirement. So as to realize HSM, high speed machine tool and cutting tool for HSM are demanded. Unfortunately the development of cutting tool for HSM is not close behind that of machine tool. In this study, We want to evaluate the performance of appropriate endmill for HSM in accordance with surface roughness of land width and clearance angle of flat-endmill by the force increasing rate and the increasing rate of force deviation. As a result of this study, we can draw following conclusion i) Surface roughness of land width is the main fact to affect the tool wear. Therefore, good surface roughness is required when the tools are made. ii) We can learn from this research that the increase of clearance angle improves the performance of endmill but in terms of tool life it causes bad influence. This result will be applied to design optimal endmill for high speed machining.
