    The purpose of this study is to investigate the consolidation characteristics of the clay along the south coast district. The CRS consolidation Tests has been used to see the validity of the Tests after coparing and analyzing the results of Conventional Tests Method with CRS consolidation tests. The conclusions of the study are summarized as follows. (1) The strain rates of the CRS tests affect co,pression index, preconsolidation pressure and consolidation properties. It has been showed that compression index was less affected than preconsolidation pressure and consolidation properties. (2) The preconsolidation ratio tended to increse in proportion to the logarithm of strain velocity, up to approximately three times greater than those of previous studies. The compression index of the CRS tests was underdstimated by 0.70~0.96 less than those of Conventional Methods. (3) The consolidation properties have a tendency to dissipate in the recompression range, and to converge in the normal consolidation range. The pore water pressure ratio dissipates exceeding 50% in the recompression range, but converges below 30% in the normal consolidation range. However, the tendency seems irregular.
