    The first step to understand chemistry in middle school is learning about many different kinds of elements. Students start to understand that there is a certain periodicity among the elements as they gain the knowledge on the common characteristics of certain elements. Scientists have put enormous efforts to complete a periodic table that shows the periodicity of elements having similar chemical properties. It is introduced how the periodic table was developed chronologically, being divided into two parts, before and after the Mendeleev's periodic table which made a huge contribution to the present one. It is focused on how elements were classified before the Mendeleev's periodic table and then how the periodic table was developed thereafter. Also, the published periodic tables are sorted depending on their shapes to compare their diversities and characteristics. Before the Mendeleev's periodic table, elements were typically divided into the same group based on their atomic weights. On the other hand, periodic tables after the Mendeleev's one were developed focused on the arrangement of the newly discovered elements of inert gases and rare earth metals. The types of published periodic tables such as short-period, long-period, length figure, three dimensions, plane figure, and spiral figure are introduced. The present periodic is seems to be completed by adopting the Bohr's one, based on the Mendeleev's, that was successfully arranged the rare earth metal elements.
