    This study had several purposes. First, to theoretically review the leadership styles, knowledge management and management performance, second, to establish the concept of self management leadership style, third, to build a research model by establishing the relationship among variables, and to set hypotheses, fourth, to do an empirical analysis on the research model through SPSS, thus to verify the relationship among variables. And last, to elicit managerial implications related to leadership styles and knowledge management in order to enhance the management performance. The results of the research hypotheses are as follows: H₁: Leadership styles had a positive effect on knowledge management. H_(1-1): Charismatic trait style of leadership had a positive effect on knowledge management. H_(1-2): Individual consideration style of leadership had a positive effect on knowledge management. H_(1-3): Inspirational stimulus style of leadership had a positive effect on knowledge management. H_(1-4): Contingent reward style of leadership had a positive effect on knowledge management. H_(1-5): Management by exception style of leadership had a positive effect on knowledge management. H_(1-6): Self management style of leadership had a positive effect on knowledge management. H₂: Knowledge management had a positive effect on management performance. H_(2-1): Knowledge management had a positive effect on competitive advantage. H_(2-2): Knowledge management had a positive effect on job satisfaction. The managerial implications derived by this study are as follows. First, in order to realize knowledge management, a leader gives ideas to employees so as to resolve some difficult problems. And to concern the employees' role importance, job satisfaction, and performance. Second, management by exception style had negative effect on knowledge management, so that the company excludes that kind of style to promote or realize knowledge management. Third, to make much effective knowledge management, a leader acts volunteerly. For example, make a plan, check a performance, research a market and control the schedule and so on. Fourth, to have a competitive advantage, companies should get competitiveness, management innovation to fit the turbulent ages, and to satisfy consumers, they should remodel the job process for them. The limitations of this study were as follows. First, we used subjective indicators when evaluating variables. Our results thus could have incorrectly assessed knowledge management and performance through the employees' subjectivity. Second, validity and reliability of data collection methods used in this study were questionable because of the lack of past researches in Korea. Third, results of this study were hard to be generalized because the cross sectional research method was employed in this study. Fourth, geography was one of the limitations. We selected respondents who purchased electronically in Masan and Changwon. Thus, it was difficult to generalize the results of study. Fifth, very little literature exists on self management leadership style. The unavailability of resources made it difficult to introduce any antecedent research. Also, we may have excluded other factors which may influence knowledge management and management performance.
