    The stress factors of primary school children were extracted in this study. The differences of stress between pupil's grades(4th : 6th), sex(male : female), and class teacher's sex(male teacher : female teacher) were also investigated. And then the relationship between stress factors and school adjustment was identified. For this study, 540 pupils were drawn from four different schools in Changwon(male : 250 and female : 290). Stress event and experience scale was designed in the present study. The scale was developed through the empirical procedure. The scale was composed of two subscales ; stress event scale(events raising stress) and the stress experience scale. The stress event and experience scales were administered to the subject. Then the subjects' school adjustment levels were assessed with school adjustment scale. Principal axis factoring was conducted to extract the stress factors of primary school children. Correlation and t-tests were applied for analysis of data. The findings were as follows. Five stress factors were extracted. The first was home factor(mainly parent's pressure and intervention etc.). Factor II was peer relationship, with factor III school life, factor IV individual problem, factor V leisure/play problems. In general, the most stressfull factor was individual problem, followed by home problem, peer relationship problem, school life, and leisure/play problem. Differences in stress between the sexes were examined. Male experience more stress from school life than did female. Several differences in stress between 4th graders and 6th ones were also found. Sixth graders experience more stress from home, individual problems, school life, and leisure/play problem than did fourth graders. There also witnessed differences in stress between the class teacher's sex. Students in female teacher's class got more stress than ones in male teacher's class got more stress in the factors regarding peer relations and individual problem. There was negative relationship between stress event and school adjustment. Students who got stress more from school life were affected the most in getting adjusted to school life. Between experience of stress and school adjustment was also negative relationship. Similar to the case of stress events, students who experienced more stress were affected the most in getting adjusted to school life. When the students get stressed out, the most common ways of dealing with stress are ranked as follows :First, playing games. Second, trying not to think about it or pretending not hearing it, with other methods of playing with friends, reading books or listening to music, and swearing or acting out their anger.
