초등학교 영재학급 운영에 관한 교사의 인식 연구

The purpose of this study is to research the teachers' recognition to management plan of gifted class through the survey for the teachers' recognition to above items, and further to supply the basic data to activate the gifted class in elementary school. For accomplishing the purpose, the following subjects have decided. First, What is required to the teacher in charge of a gifted class in elementary school? Second, Which management method is required to a gifted class in elementary school? Third, Which legal and systematical support is required to a gifted class in elementary school? Fourth, What is the activation plan for a gifted class in elementary school? The survey was executed for 300 teachers selected randomly among the universe of elementary school teachers worked in Gyeongnam and Busan by use of questionnaires that I prepared and certified by experts. The returned effective 276 questionnaires have analyzed by use of Statistics package, SPSS Ver 10.0, and the results are as follows. Firstly, as the analysis result of teachers' recognition to the requirements of teacher in charge of a gifted class in elementary school, the training and arrangement of expert teacher, who has the specific capability in the field of teaching for gifted students forming 2% in each class in elementary school, so that they can be offered an appropriate education. The highly required qualification for the teacher in charge of a gifted class is that the excellent knowledge for the teaching range, specific leading ability, comprehensive understanding to gifted students' demands and mental state, and the passion and sense of duty. The teachers shall be trained more than 120 hours on that subject, or studied in College or Graduate school as establishing the relevant department. The training type will be workshop to learn actual and definite courses, counsel with expert, and presentation of teaching method used in field. The training courses will consist of class program for gifted children, teaching-instruction method, and distinction of gifted children. Secondary, as the analysis result of teachers' recognition to the management of that class, it is proper that 6~10 students per class in 3rd grade or more will be selected on the base of solution ability for creative questions, passion for subject, IQ and scholastic record at the end of semester. They consider that the proper management type will be Club Activity class or Permanent class centered on the subjects of Science, Art and Math, and it will be better to use the teaching program developed by Specific Education Institution for gifted student. The course shall go abreast Progress class and Deepening class on the base of Inquiry, Solution, Experiment and Discussion. Thirdly, as the analysis result of teachers' recognition to the legal and systematical support for that class, most of teachers think the schools are lack of necessary data and the class management doesn't go well. They consider that the time is not yet ripe although Specific Education Promotion Low for gifted student was passed. Even they think that anyone can be the teacher in charge of a gifted class after acquiring Teaching Certificate passing through prescribed training course. Fourthly, as the analysis result of teachers' recognition to the activation plan for gifted class, many teachers have affirmative view that the gifted childrens' ability can be developed through gifted class as it will be a kind of class respecting individuality and variety. But, the teachers want more concrete and new education plan for gifted children. To improve the educational effect of gifted children, first of all educational data and program shall be developed and specific teachers trained, financial and administrative support sufficiently accomplished, and the education divided per subject. Also, securing specialized teachers, development of teaching data, expansion of facilities and active PR of parents and teaching staff are considered the important requirements.
