    This study is intended to inquire into the resource recovery of municipal solid wastes. As our country made a rapid economic growth, large sum of consumption, shortened life of commodities, population, concentration in the city, and density of residence have made municipal wastes increasing every year, getting harder to dispose of for its quality is various. As a result, the environmental pollution has become social problem. This study depends on a literature analysis. Chapter two deals with the waste management system. Chapter three deals with the various treatment techiques that are available today. Chapter five investigates the methods of recycling materials that is currently being used in korea along with the latest techniques of waste disposal in other countries. In this study, it was concluded that the sanitary landfills and incineration should be actualized soon. In addition, the composting and pyrolysis, the heat recovery by incineration and the use of landfills gas. Several suggestions are made as follows: 1. Wastes should be collected seperately according to resourcable materials and nonresourcable materials. 2. For the maximum utilization of resourcable materials, goverment authorities should subsidize private companies for the construction of steam power plants and other necessary plants. The goverment must develop systematic long and medium range plans resource recovery from soid waste. 3. Now that increasing the financial support is the urgent problem for the solutions, I emphasized here that it's necessary to raise the expenses to citizens on the basis of the benefit principle. 4. It is necessary that air pollution dispersion modelling should be conducted and relevant pollution control measures be established for the construction and operation of RDF/ Compost facilities. Because RDF/Compost facilities are expected to be highly economical in view of maximum utilization of waste resources.
