    In this thesis I intended to study social function of practical physical education, necessity, trend and problems of physical Education, essence of school physical education and several problems raised today. The purpose of these considerations lies presenting the role of school physical education needed to develop practical physical educations. School physical education has many organizational problems. To solve them I suggested some methods for a desirable school physical education connected with practical physical education, that is, substantiality of school physical education's facilities and opnening facilities for everybody. In modern society human beings got to live well and conveniently thanks to rapid development of scienec. But the use of machines, on the other hand, resulted in lack of physical activities, stress caused by excessive mental activities, etc. These threat modern people's health and make them feel the necessity of physical activities that are helpful to solving the lack of physical activities and leading a healthy life. Therefore, basic measures to develop practical physical education must be taken. Unfortunately, school physical education has placed the focus on bringing up elite athletes until now. Especially school physical education wasn't closely connected with practical physical education, which is the problem of Korean physical education. The most important thing in achieving the aims of school physical education is a direct physical activities. This is why Physical education is accomplished by the very physical activities. physical activities are very important because they assure opportunities to participate directly in physical education. From a viewpoint of public welfare, such an assurance is desirable to everybody And they should pave the way for their lifelong physical education by participating this thesis presented the role of school physical education connecting with practical physical education. First, school physical education should be made substantial For this reformation of physical education should be preceded. At school teachers must be faithful to school physical education aims, curriculum and school lessons. They must throw off educational ways by indication, command and noniterference, which have detracted greatly from the value of physical education And they must try to help students participate positively in various physical activities. Developing good tcaching-learning methods is the most important thing for teachers to do. First all of, curriculum of training center for teachers should provide teachers with suitable methods for school physical education and various learning programs. Second, facilities of school physical education should be opened positively. They must be opened to students and local inhabitants on condition that their opening doesn't disturb school lessens. And we need the expansion of physical education facilities in order to supplement insufficient facilities. In these days many facilities are set up for the inhabitants of Seoul at the side of the Han River. The local people also want these facilities. Third, the leaders of practical physical education should be trained. Workshops with over 500 employees need leaders of practical physical education. Therefore we must train many physical education leaders. School physical education must play an important role in training leaders with good personality, Konwledge, theory and parctice. Conclusively the role of school physical education, in encouraging practical physical education, is faithfulness to school education through the improvement of physical education curriculum, opening and expanding facilities of school physical education and training many leaders for physical education.
