The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of Long-and Short-term weight loss methds on anaerobic power and aerobic capacity in boxers. The subjects of this study was to 14 collegiate boxers(n=14). They were devided into two groups(Group I= long term weight loss group, three weeks. 9% n = 7 ; Group II = short - term weight loss group, six days. 5% n = 7 ) upper body and lower body anaerobic power test (Wingate test) was conducted per and post weight loss Aerobic capacity of upper body and lower body by arm ergometer and bicycle ergometer, respectively. The collected data were analyzed by means of paired T-test. A significant level of 0.05 for rejection of the null hypothesis was selected. The results of this study showed that : First, Lactate increased post weight loss in upper body and loweer body aerobic capacitytest of Short-term weight loss group. Second, The Long-and Short-term weight loss did not influence upper-and lower body anaerobic power. Third, The Long-and Short-term weight loss significantly decreased upper body aerobic capacty. Fourth, The Long-and Short-term weight loss did not influence lower body anaerobic capacity. Fifth, The most similar test to the physical demards of actual boxing competition was arm cranking. In conclusion, the Long-term weight loss did not influence physical performance (Anaerobic power and Aerobic capacity) The Short-term weight loss did not influence anaerobic power. As the Short-term weight loss decreased aerobic capacity, the physical performance significantly was decreased. Therefire, the Short and excessive weight loss(sixdays. 5%) harm for physical function.
