A Study on Decision making type and the Satisfaction in the School Administration

    The purpose of this study is to examine and clarify the relationship between decision-making type of the school administration and the teachers' job satisfaction, which will give information and suggestions for the effective achievement of the goal of the school administration and the promotion of the teachers' job satisfaction. For the purpose of this study, the subjects of the study were set up. (1) How is the school distribution rate based on administrator's decison making types? (2) How are the school administrator's decison-making types and the teachers' job satisfaction based on school's characteristic? (3) How does the teachers' job satisfaction differ based on the school administrator's decision-making types? To clarify the above subjects, I distributed a questionaire to the sampling group that included teachers from middle schools and high schools in Kyong-ki Province. The questionaire is composed of two parts. The first one which measures the school administraror's decision-making types has 20 items. The second which measures the teachers' job satisfaction has 30 items. The conclusion of this study was as follows: First, the expert decision-making type shows higher than any other type in school administrator's decision-making. The democratic decision-making type in medium scale schools is proved highly. By regional groups, the democratic decision-making type in town region is shown higher than any other region. So we must make medium scale schools in order to become democratic decision-making type. Second, the feeling extent of teachers' job satisfaction of highly experienced teachers shows higher than that of the less experienced ones. The teachers working for medium scale schools have higher feeling extent of teachers' job satisfaction than the ones who work for the large scale schools. But there is no meaningful differences in regional groups and in foundation groups. To promote teachers' job satisfaction, schools must become medium scale schools and Government have to consider all the measures for raising their working desire. Third, the factors in which teachers' job satisfaction are high - human relations and teachers' job view, and low - motive system and administrative supports. To improve low motive system and administrative supports, it is necessary to subdivide promotion constitutions into several stages. And Government must make efforts to promote their salary and welfare facilities. Fourth, it is shown that the relationship between school administrator's decision-making types and teachers' job satisfaction has intimate relations to each other, that is, teachers' job satisfaction is highest in democratic decision-making type. By the above results, we have to develop it into democratic decision-making for the effective achievement of the goal of the school administration and the promotion of the teacher' job satisfaction.
