    To provide for shifts in the location of maximum moments, the code requires extension of reinforcement a distance effective depth of member(d) or 12db beyond the point at which it is theoretically no longer required to resist flexures. So, the curtailment of the flexural reinforcement may be conveniently determined from the envelope of the moment of resistance Tjd. This is simply the bending moment diagram displaced horizontally by a distance e_v , whose magnitude depend on the web reinforcement factor 口 and the inclination of the crack α. The moment of resistance Tjd can be precisely predicted on considering shear effects. In this paper, bar cutoff points of the reinforced concrete structure have been determined on considering shear effects. It may be noted that moderate web steel contents , 口<0.5 and a crack inclination little less than 40˚, the value of e_v is approximately equal to the effective depth d.
