The purpose of this study is to define the style of leadership life cycle of Moses and his characteristics as a leader. 「Hersey and Blanchard」's Life Cycle Theory which may stand for Leadership Situation Theory provides hypothetical basis for this study. The essential parts of this leadership theory is depicted as follows : ◁표 삽입▷ (원문을 참조하세요) A simple idea depicted here is the keypoint to develop this study. ◁표 삽입▷ (원문을 참조하세요) 4 major parts were reviewed. 1. Was the leadership of Moses changed according to the change of maturity of Israel People? 2. If so, how was it changed? As situational hypothesis of leadership theory mentioned above, have task oriented or relation oriented leadership behaviors been occured depending on the maturing process of Israel People? 3. The type of leadership life cycle pattern. 4. The type of maturity changing pattern. The result of analysis reveals as follows ; 1. The leadership of Moses was changed according to the change of peoples' maturity. 2. The pattern of his leadership life cycle was generally following the conceptual line of situational leadership hypothesis. However, this parttern was depicted within the specific region ; high standard of tasks and high standard of relations. The influencing factors, which created this result may include the unique character of Moses(God chosen leader), task for restoring the promised land-Canaan, group characteristics of Israel People under their unique environments like slavery in Egypt, Exodus and movement through wilderness. Also their religious value with Jehovah roled as the most influencing factor as a whole. 3. The type of leadership life cycle of Moses is clearly defined, however does not exactly follow the track of hypothetical curve. His leading initiatives accelerates the maturity of his people. Particularly those significant events including Passover, crossing the Red sea, receiving Ten Commandments and the betray of Israelites in front of the land of Canaan made epoch on the changes of leadership patterns both to Moses and Israel People. 4. The type of the changing pattern of peoples mautrity generally followed progressive line. However, some repeated pattern with 「forward and back movement」 could be drawn. My artificial definition of maturity here covers self-consciousness(awakening)of Israel People in terms of God chosen Israelites and their behaviors towarding their national goal to the Promised Land. The following picture gives you an idea how the leadership of Moses has been changed in conjunction with the progress of Israelis maturity. ◁그림 삽입▷ (원문을 참조하세요) The Leadership characteristics of Moses could be summarized as follows ; 1) God summoned leader armed with His Command. 2) A leader with strong leadership. 3) Professional and countless considerations to his people. 4) Responsibility. Always tried to accept sole responsibility to his people's fault. 5) Decisive, prompt and accurate decision making. 6) A leader with vision. Prepared for future. 7) A leader for turbulent era. 8) Nothing was left for himself. These characters deprived from Moses give some lesson points for a leader required by Korean Reunification era. Because korean style Exodus - to restore their lost land - has already began. But a leader required to perform this utmost task is not shown up yet.
