    This study has the purpose to investigate the problems in the regulation of teacher's promoson system, which has been the 18th revision (dated July 9, 1999) since it was announced as a law, and to suggest the improvement direction for the advanced promotion system. This study involves as follows ; a basic theory on teacher'promotion system, a principle applicable on teacher's promotion and a standard establishing regulation of promotion. Especially this study focuses on the regulation related to career rating, efficiency rating, training rating and additional grade which are standards of the current teacher's promotion system. Statistical research of this study was made by answers of 168 teachers classified according to the distinction of their sex, school and career.The results indicated that most teachers have the opinions which the current teacher's promotion system should be improved for more advanced system. This study concluded as follows ; first, teachers are not interested much in teacher's promotion system and have much complaints about the current promotion regulation. Second, teachers are skeptic of discontent about the standard of career rating adjusted downward. Third, efficiency rating should be improved in order to encourage teachers to do their best with coifidence. fourth, training rating should be appraised to Prevent from making the degree deviation by different training institutes. Fifth, the additional ade unconnected with teacher's ability should be compensated with their pay and the items for additional grade should be reduced.
