A study on the improvement of communicative competence through role-play in elementary school English

This paper is to study on improvement of communicative competence through Role-Play in elementary school English. To study this, I tried to improvement of communicative competence applying the Role-Play in per lesson to advance children's interest in English learning. The elementary English text book composes of four hours of a lesson in the sixth curriculum. Children show the shortage of causing learning motivation strength and learning interesting, because they don't have much role play activities. If it is taken into account active elementary school children's character, it is needed that the pride and self-caused learning of them through teaching-learning application strengthened Role-Play activities. Role-Play helps children face with new surroundings immediately under given surroundings. From beginning Role-Play have children who are apt to lose interesting in English learning cause interesting and strengthen their achievements. This paper applied teaching-learning model of role play through speaking, hearing, evaluation and children's evaluation by verification plan and the analysed result. Hearing ability showed a little effect but living English which children make use of showed much effect in speaking ability evaluation. The result proved to affect role play lesson applying strengthened children's various mutual activity on affirmative change of learning interest and to effect motive cause in learning in elementary English. I thought that role play gave children positiveness and minimized uneasy and burden to English and it generally effected the ability upgrade of English. In conclusion, I thought that further research is needed to study teaching method, to develop various skills for the lesson, to develop much materials steadily and a variety of role play activities for elementary school children.
