In the age of unification, the most important subject of history is to unify devided history education and establish history identification oriented the reunification of Korean peninsula. This research is first laying stress on modern history with 'National History of Low Grade' and 'Chosun History(4)' which are South and North Korea high school history textbooks. First of all, this study focuses on the difference of curriculum and history education between South and North Korea. Secondly, in the South and North Korea history textbooks we can find the same and different point of view with the description and terminology of morden history in South and North Korean history textbooks. According to this study, South and North Korean history textbooks have much difference of content and terminology because of different ideology and system. Since the curriculum of South and North Korea are different, it is difficult to compare each other simply. However, 2.45% of the whole class is occupied with the history class in South, while history class of North Korea is 4.15%. Therefore, the number of the history class in North Korea is more than that of South Korea. There is a great difference from the recognition of history and the content of description between South and North Korea. While National History of Low Grade was described by the objective point of view, Chosun History was described by the subjective point of view. Therefore, The character of description in Chosun History is as follows. First of all, Chosun History was strictly applied to the theory of history development about Marxism. Secondly, It was people's democratic struggle that the history could be developed with dynamic power. Finally, It was emphasized by revolutionary family line from the description of Modern History. There is also a great difference of terminology between South and North Korea. The degree of usage was 66.6 % in the same or similar terminology, but the terminology that could not be compared with each other was 16.7%. and different terminology was up to 16.7%. These are caused by south and north system which have different ideology. Although we live in the age of unification now, a wide gap of history textbook between South and North Korea doesn't make narrow. The mutual understanding and trust should be started when we can gain same experience and establish national identification. Both North and South Korea try to set up the right national history. Therefore we should throw away 'the divided textbook' between the two Koreas, rather orient 'the unified textbook'
