    Kouksundo is the Korean traditional method of training the mind and body which has been descended from our ancestors since about 9,700 years. It is the secret of preserving our health and staying free from diseases in good health and full vigor. The practice of Kouksundo involves lower abdominal breathing with special postures. The breathing practice improves and revitalizes the autonomic nervous system and self-healing and restoring forces of our body. Hence, all diseases disappear spontaneously. Continuous and steady training for lifetime results in the genuine health in both our body and our mind. The purpose of this study is to analyze the degree of effects which a practician himself feels in Kouksundo. For this study, six sets of variables were selected : the changes of body and mind, the changes of the friendliness between family members, the motives of Kouksundo training, the cure of chronic diseases, and the personal characters. This thesis was studied theoretically and experientially. Experiential study was made by surveying the training effects of practicians in Kouksundo training institute. The analysis of data in this study was made through the SPSS 10.0 for Window. This study consists of five chapters. In the first chapter, I introduce the necessity and purpose of this study. In the second chapter, I refer to the conception, the historical background and theories, and the training grades of Kouksundo, as well as the philosophical principle and the study precedent for it. In the third chapter, I present the objects of study, the tools of survey and the methods of analysis. In the fourth chapter, I suggest the results and explanations of this study. Lastly, the fifth chapter is the summary and conclusion of this study. Just as I have illustrated my analyzed statistics so far, most practicians have started Kouksundo for their healthy body and mind, and they have been satisfied with the results that they have achieved through their practices. As most people are recently under much stress from the factors of social instability, they are looking for their physical health as well as their mental stability. This is why many people become interested in the practice of Kouksundo. In conclusion, I'd like to say that people can bring the positive and helpful effects for their body and mind through Kouksundo, so I need to recommend and spread it to ordinary people.
