Some Suggestions to improve the Insurance Brokerage System in Korea : Based on the Non-life Insurance

    We discussed on the problems with a system of insurance broker in Korea and the solutions after general insurance broker systems had been checked out and the comparison of our system with other ones, such as in British, in America, in Japan, etc., also had been completed in terms of the status and the business organizations. To put our insurance broker system in place, it is recommended that the insurance brokers as well as the authority should think of their role in insurance industry and make efforts to bring customers more profits and help themselves get opportunities to grow as well by the different aspects and know-hows from others to improve the quality and service. A tougher rule, on the one hand, should be applied from a view of policy at the beginning of employing the system to minimize side-effects, which helps domestic brokers obtain competition with education programs for experts against larger foreign ones. In addition to this, brokers should have a unique approach to the issue of employer necessary to pave the way for brokers, the issue of deposit money for business, personnel exchange, etc.. On the other hand, for insurance brokers themselves, the competition among agency for a higher commission in household insurance should be avoided, instead consulting skills for risk control and the skill for demage assessment should be secured to ensure that customers win their claims. Brokers also should have abilities to estimate the profit from a new good for niche marketing during market risk and help profitable larger goods not flow abroad through the hands of foreign brokers. It is hopeful for the system insurance broker in domestic insurance industry to help our insurance industry to get more developed. For this purpose it is necessary that customers' benefits increase, people's perceptions about insurance change, and fundamentals for insurance industry are secured. It is possible, as mentioned early, when each of brokers, authority, etc. as well as insurance companies, who are all the parties of insurance achieve well their roles in an effort of generating social, cultural, and systemic setting. Finally, I hope that thanks to these efforts just started insurance broker system occupy a major position in our demage insurance market.
