    The purpose of this study is to research how the creative play activity program has an effect on improving the adaptive behavior and learning readiness to the children with educable mentally retarded. Adaptive behavior is studied with area of individual skills and habits and area of personal characteristic and action. The study readiness investigated how knowledge, physical concept and 8 kinds of under factors affect. For this study, three mentally retarded children of Changwon city 'C' elementary school had been carried out with pre-inspection, experiment, post-inspection during three months. Experiment tools are 24 kinds of play activity program which had been re-constructed and applied after review of suitability. The research method is to carry out the play activity program of total 24 times of twice a week, 40 minutes each time. With comparing the pre-test with post-test of adaptive behaviour and learning readiness inspection, The findings of this study are as follows: First, the creative play activity program made the individual skills and habits such as physical development, socialization, independent function, linguistic development, pre-job activity, self administration, responsibility area of mental retarded children improved meaningfully, especially in the physical development and socialized area. Second, applying the creative play activity program bring the meaningful change in the individual characteristic and behavior. Especially there are the good improvement in his symptomatic behaviors, attack, antisocial habit, shrinkage, inter-personal relationships manner, speaking habit and level of activity and also non-adaptative action such as symptomatic behaviors, attack, resistance had especially decreased. Third, its application has a meaningful effect on the development of learning behaviors, bringing about very rapid change in such learning behaviors as visual-motor coordination, play perception and memory. According to the result of this study, the creative play activity program gives the positive effects in individual area of skills and habits and area of characteristic and behavior. And also this application developed the learning readiness ability Therefore, it is required to apply more effective educational program which has been systemized, detailed and reflected the individual characteristics and needs to develope the adaptive action and study readiness function. Also when the detailed play activity program is applied by cooperating home, society and schools successively, the adaptive activity and learning readiness must be improved.
