The major purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between extracurricula lecture, home study, and school adjustment. Also, the present study investigated different sorts of extracurricula lecture and home Study. The subjects were 471 fifth or sixth graders (male=246, female=225). They were extracted from seven different primary schools in Changwon city(urban=4 schools, rural=3 schools). The Questionnaire of Extracurricula Lecture and Home Study in English and Mathematics Learning and School Adjustment Scale were administered to the subjects. Statistical analyses were performed with SPSS 10.0. The major findings were as follows : First, for extracurricula lecture of English, the most children were found working on 'drill books' and attending 'General Educational Institute'. And for home study, many were utilizing audio tapes and CDs. Longer time was spent on extracurricula lecture than home study. Children were highly satisfacted with respective studies. Second, for English learning, girls used more various sorts of home study and spent more time than boys. And more children in urban region were getting more various sorts of home study than children in rural area. For differnce to the grades, 5th graders were making more use of home study and 6th graders had more extracurricula lecture. Third, in Math learning, the most children were found getting 'drill books' and attending 'General Educational Institute'. And many children reviewed with 'refernece books' and 'text books'. Longer time was spent on extra curricula lecture than home study. Children showed high satisfaction with respective studies. Forth, for sex difference, girls were making use of many sorts of home study. And more children in city were working on various home study and spent more time than children in the country. For grade difference, 5th graders spent more time studying with their parents. Fifth, 'drill books' and 'phone-tutoring' made differences in adjustment to school as well as sub-index. Children getting these kinds of extracurricula lectures adjusted themselves well to school, and it was the case in other sub-index. Sixth, Children with home study showed excellent adjustment to school. Children without home study had problem adjusting themselves to school. Seventh, There was not much difference between the time spent for the general studies and the adjustment to school. But the more time children spent for home study than for extracurricula lecture, the better adjustment to school they showed. To summarize the foundings of the survey, primary school children had many kinds of English and Math learning outside the school. And children with these extracurricula lecture and home study adjusted themselves better to school. Among them, fewer students were having home study, but they adjusted themselves to school better. This survey proved children can adjust themselves well enough to school through home studies rather than extracurricula lecture. Therefore with continual communication, we can promote the parents' interest and understanding, to identify the individual learner's interest and needs. Then we can find suitable sort and method of study, to guide the learners to self-study, and finally let them have brilliant school life supported enough only by home study.
