As the internet being very common today, web-based education and school education using ICT(Information, Communication Technology) have been given increasing consequence. The internet-based educational methods also have been improved significantly. Due to its complexity and difficulty, however, composing e-Learning contents is very hard way for teachers in school. Although a teacher make his own contents, he must have difficulties in managing them. Especially, in reuse. The XML is very flexible with any type of data having some regular patterns. In this thesis, regular patterns of educational materials were put in order into XML documents and implemented on the Web. Thereby, learners could explore for the contents they wanted. Author could manage their learning contents very easily for it were consisted of only one file, and also they could easily share their contents with others on the internet. The merits that the data of learning contents were made up of only single XML document file could be an answer in reuse and difficulties on managing, modifying the source data. At an age of XML, the Quest system of this study is expected to have the several effects aimed from the beginning. Firstly, authoring time could be reduced. Commonly, there are so many separate inter-related data and hyperlink in on-line educational system. But with this Quest system, authoring could be done in very short time. Secondly, for the quest system uses the unit 'element,' the efficiency of retrieving and managing document files could be remarkably enhanced. Thirdly, this Quest system provides the hyperlink method to explore the data within the single XML file. With a specialized editor, anyone, even a nonspecialist in XML and PHP, could easily make the xml data file and verify the validity of it. Lastly, The processes of learning could be focused on not instructor's schedule but learner's choice. Thereby learners could be given natural feedback. Some tasks need to follow. At first, the function need to develop to handle some other multimedia formats besides images and sounds. Secondly, the "station" of this system need to be extended because the number of "station" of a document is related with the size of the document. Lastly, if this Quest system is coupled with homepage module, this Quest system will be a great authoring tool for teachers.
