    A key to reducing an IT (Information technology) TCO (Total cost of ownership) of an enterprise using the methodologies of server and storage consolidation was presented via a pilot model. As the information technology is rapidly developing in the earlier 21st century, most of the enterprises concern the costs from the increasing complexities of IT environments. In order to reduce the costs of IT resources, the enterprises measure an IT TCO and endorse their powers in optimizing IT environments. The TCO and ROI have been become the tools to measure and control an efficiency and value of IT resources. The downsized IT environments in the later 20th century have been causing some enterprises to spend the higher costs. For reducing or minimizing the costs of IT resources, this paper presented that the fact if server and storage consolidation are used then the costs of IT resources are saved dramatically. These methods were applied to the ERP systems of D Heavy Industrial & Construction Co., Ltd. and we created a pilot model to verify the possibility. We got the good results from the pilot model. The TCO comparison of before and after consolidation of system showed the unpredictable results (saving 65% of costs). The present writer have been working in D corporations IT division since 1987 and is focusing the minimizing costs of operating data center and IT resources. In addition if there is an enterprise planning to purchase a new system or to replace the current systems with new systems because of higher operating and maintaining costs it is strongly recommended that the methodologies of IT resource consolidations should be considered first to optimize the new systems. If you do so, you may save a lot of costs. According to the study results it is mandatory for an enterprise to consider the consolidations in renovating and purchasing IT resources. For example if you have a plan to construct a disaster recovery (such as a backup center) first you should consolidate the current system environments into a compact system to reduce the costs of constructing disaster recovery system. Finally since the complexities of IT environments are proportional to the costs, all of the enterprises using IT systems should slim their IT environments from user perspective and consolidate the existing IT resources.
