    The Current Situation of Internet Banking and its Coping Measure-Focusing on NACF(National Agricultural Cooperative Federation)-Internet banking was partially introduced in July, 1999. Now 20 domestic banks or so are delivering the service. Internet banking can be traced back to on-line banking, or one of the remote bankings supplied by some of the banks in New York in the 1980s. At the time, on-line banking made the remote transfer of fund easy or depended on ATM, serving as a new type of financial mechanisms enabling customers to gain access to the service of financial institutions without paying a visit to them. Then this kind of banking has grown into Internet banking where the clients can easily treat their banking affaires in a virtual space on their PCs. NACF constructed its Internet banking system on its own on August 1, 2000, beginning Internet banking service. The federation made it possible for the clients to save money through a variety of items on May 5, 2001. On March 27, 2001, the federation constructed the individual property management and corporate finance system, separating retail finance from corporate finance contents. On April 23, 2001, the federation enabled their customers to send money to foreign countries. On Juyly 9, 2002, the federation pushed ahead with introducing EAI for the sake of integrating servers. On August 13, 2002, NACF made it possible for clients to send money to foreign countries in the form of automatic transfer. On December 16, 2002, NACF started to deliver money-exchange service on the Internet. On April 7, 2003, the federation opened 'Duriki', or service designed for the confirmation of cell-phone security. The individual finance of NACF banking website is delivering service such as Internet banking, deposit/trust, lending, fraternal insurance, care, money exchange, e-Finance, My e-NACF. The Internet banking service is composed of inquiry, transfer, credit card, lending, fraternal insurance, deposit termination, money exchanges, check/bill, taxes, report of the loss, management of client information and additional services. NACF is providing benefit, and excluding commissions until the end of June, 2003 in case of the clients placing money on deposits by making e-banking account connective account. In addition to this, NACF is providing such various client counseling channels as intelligent response service, chatting, and moving-picture counseling, etc. as well as its unique service as NACF shopping and Nature. NACF(https://nonghyup.com) is conducting Internet banking as the concept of financial portal capable of carring out the whole work of the bank(federation). NACF is consolidation its Internet service for farmers, fishermen. and agricultural groups who are not familiar with the Internet so that the federation's affairs may be grafted onto Internet technology for the creation of great and complex synergy. And NACF is providing students attending agricultural schools to secure stable enterprise in the 2000s. NACF helps create community groups form all walks of life on the Internet and establish favorable marketing environment along with the formation of forces favoring NACF. The changes of the environment of Internet business are such that the experts can hardly predict them. NACF is expected to elastically cope with the movement of changes in external environment and to accomplish the development and application of the system related to major key enterprise in the first year, and the federation is expected to construct e-Biz infrastructure in the second year. And NACF is expected to push ahead with huge projects with great effectiveness by introducing the concepts of marketing. It is necessary that the currently discrete construction and service of each and every federation should be reorganized in terms of NACF's Internet strategics as a whole and that the rearrangement of each site and the construction of Internet business in consideration of the features of NACF's enterprise and organization should contribute to a great reduction in expenses due to the development and operation of system integration. It is highly likely that foreign banks will dominate domestic banks for they have advanced experiences and technology with Internet banking spread. In this sense, the domestic financial institutions including NACF are lacking in improving the commercial values of Internet banking. Though Internet banking consolidates their relationship with clients, it doesn't help increase the profits of banks. In case the domestic banks are under a lot of stress to drastically reduce their expenses due to crisis, a lot of banks which fail to create direct profits will face difficulties. Recently, domestic banks tend to increase Internet banking commissions in terms of enhancing profits due to the fierce competition of domestic banks. NACF is expected to increase commissions in case of money transfer to other banks. Some criticize that this kind of increase in commissions is based on competition and minimum expenses rather than on models for profits related to the federation's policies. The following are the limitations of this research. First, this study fails to present professional models for profit analysis, only presenting simple measures to improve profits such as huge investment related to Internet banking, money supply and application, and an increase in various commissions. Second, this study should fails to make an analysis of models for improving profits in the unique areas of NACF such as economic enterprise and farmer guidance as well as general banking affairs.
