According to the curriculum based on the student academic level, which was the core of 7th curriculum, the ability grouping class with deepening and supplement has been carried out with applying 7th curriculum in junior high school since 2001. However, even though the necessity of ability grouping class was sufficiently recognized, the ability grouping class was not properly conducted in the existing school. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to prepare the effective class management plan of ability grouping class for school application and to define the educational effects of ability grouping class after taking lessons for second grade students of the junior high school with a method which was examined in this study. In chapter Ⅱ, theoretical background. The general characteristics of 7th curriculum and the importance of ability grouping class were reviewed. In chapter Ⅲ, the actual state of ability grouping class with deepening and supplement. The teaching plan of ability grouping class with deepening and supplement, which can be applicable to curriculum of junior high school's history class, was presented based on the theoretical background in chapter Ⅱ. In this study, ability grouping class was designed fundamental learning course and deepening and supplemental learning course. In fundamental learning course, the class was progressed by Jigsaw learning model. In deepening and supplemental learning course, the class was progressed by the worksheets that were developed to correspond with the level of learners and to lead student learning themselves. The learning materials of ability grouping class with deepening and supplemental were developed by centering around the foundation and development of Koryo, an ancient Korean state, in the textbook of second grade students in the junior high school. Also, the procedure of ability grouping class for second grade students was summarized. In chapter Ⅳ, in the analysis of ability grouping class effect. Learning motivation and school achievement were compared depend on the difference between class with ability grouping and class with the general studies. As a result of this analysis, the learning motivation and satisfaction of students with ability grouping class were greater than the students with general class. In the case of school achievement, the students with ability grouping class have higher grade of examination than the students with general classes. Especially, the grade improvement of low-grade group was higher than the high-grade group. In chapter Ⅴ, the results of this study were summarized and several kinds of proposals for efficient management of ability grouping class in junior high school's history were suggested.
