(A) Study of How Self-Initiative Research of Figures Effects on the Elevation of Historical Mind : Centered on Social Studies of the Elementary 6th Grade

The study aims to explore methods of teaching self-initiative research of figures by analyzing educational processes and selecting and organizing educational contents in consideration of elevation of historical mind of elementary school students centering on society textbooks for the first semester of the 6th grade, and it has sets three study objectives in an effort to improve historical mind through production and use of materials and teaching and studying activities, and as a result of the study, it has come to following conclusions. 1. It motivated students to focus on studying and helped teachers to set directions for teaching by considering educational contents and historial mind and interest of students at times of recreating educational contents through analysis of educational processes of society subject and its textbooks and selection of historical figures for teaching. 2. Production of studying materials for self-initiative research of figures and research of various historial figures helped students have a greater interest in history, enhance historical mind and improve problem-solving ability, thinking ability and cooperative studying method. In addition, a lot of discussion helped students listen to others and enabled them to eliminate narrow-minded view of human beings broadening their perspective. 3. Establishment of a model of self-initiative research of figures and formation and application of educational processes of research of figures helped students develop interests in lessons on the society subject and improve their historical mind and led them to enjoy participating in classes.
