    The factor structure of stress of elementary school children were extracted in this study. The sex and grades differences of stress factors, and social support from friends were also investigated. And then the relationship between stress factors and social support from friends was identified. For this study, 592 pupils were drawn from four different schools in Changwon(male : 323 and female : 269). The instrument used in this study was questionnaires that reconstructed a stress scale and a friend support scale. For data analysis, SPSS program was utilized. A factor analysis was conducted to identify the factor structure of their stress. Correlation and t-tests were applied for analysis of data. The major findings of this study were as follows: Four stress factors were extracted. The first stress factor was study problem, and the second was family relations. The third was relationship with friends, and the fourth was behavioral control. Differences in stress between the sexes were examined. Female experience more stress from study problem than did male, and male experience more stress from behavioral control than did female. Several differences in stress between 4th graders and 6th ones were also found. Sixth graders experience more stress from study problem than did fourth graders, and the 4th graders experience more stress from relationship with friends than did the sixth graders. Differences in social support from friends between the sexes were examined. Female received the backing of friends more than did male, and male faced more conflicts with their friends than did female. Several differences in social support from friends between the graders were also found. The sixth graders were given more social support from their friends than the fourth graders, and the latter suffered more conflicts with their friends than did the former. There was significant negative relationship was between stress and conflicts with friends, since those who underwent more conflicts with friends were more stressed out. But, there was no negative relationship between stress and social support from friends.
