  • 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine how primary school children's impression formation was influenced by their attribution about group task performance. It's specifically attempted to find out how people felt about two different types of students after they performed the given task in groups of three successfully or unsuccessfully. One group of students thought high of themselves, no matter their task performance was successful or unsuccessful, and the other was those who attributed their success to their peers in case of success and blamed themselves in case of failure. The attitude of the former group was called a self-serving attribution, and that of the latter was named a self-modesty attribution. The subjects in this study were 320 selected students in their sixth year of N primary school in the city of Changweon. The experiment was designed to deal with four different patterns based on performance results(success and failure) and attribution types(blaming oneself and blaming others): attributing success to oneself, attributing success to others, attributing failure to oneself and attributing failure to others. The students were asked to rate the others' impression on five-point Likert scale, including being candid, warm-hearted, capable, modest and likable. Based on the above-mentioned findings, the following conclusion was reached: There were positive effects of modest attribution on impression formation. Those who attribute performance of group task modestly were evaluated more positively than those attribute it self-servingly. Concretely those who attribute the result of group task modestly were evaluated more candid person than those who do it self-servingly. Those who attribute the result of group task modestly were judged more warm-hearted person than those who do it self-servingly. Those who attribute the result of group task modestly were evaluated more capable person than those who do it self-servingly. Those who attribute the result of group task modestly were evaluated more modest person than those who do it self-servingly. Those who attribute the result of group task modestly were judged more likable person than those who do it self-servingly.
