With the advent of XML as a standard for data representation and exchange on the Internet, storing and querying XML document becomes more and more important. Serveral XML query languages have been proposed, and the common feature of the language is the use of regular path expressions to query XML document. This poses a new challenge concerning indexing and searching XML document, because conventional approaches based on tree traversals may not meet the processing requirements under heavy access requests. In this paper, we propose a new model for indexing XML document based on SAX. SAX is an event-driven model for processing XML. Most XML processing models build an internal, tree-shaped representation of the XML document. The developer than uses that model's API to access the contents of the document tree. The SAX model is quite different. Rather than building a complete representation of the docuement, a SAX parser fires off a series of events as it reads the document from begining to end. Those events are passed to event handlers, which provide access to the contents of the document. But, SAX does not keep hierarchy information between parent nodes and child nodes. Theory, we propose structured information to support a wide range of queries such an content-based queries and structure-attribute queries at all levels of the document hierarchy. Structured information consists of NID(Node Id), PNID(Parent Node Id), ETID(Element Type Id). Using this structured information, we design SAX. We proposed a new method by which the structured document generated by this index technique is saved in a database through PL/SQL and XML document are generated through XSQL pages.
