Developing a negotiating mobile agent system in a B2B e-Marketplace

In B2B e-commerce, a variety of researches for the negotiation procedure have been accomplished and several negotiation methodologies have been published. Using these negotiation methodologies, in this thesis, we propose a "Negotiating Mobile Agent System" for making automated negotiation in selection or distribution of goods or services between buyers and suppliers. We then develop a negotiating mobile agent system embedding the framework and providing the negotiation methodologies above in a B2B e-Marketplace. The proposed negotiating mobile agent systems can the store negotiation strategies as the form of components in a strategy class library, and reuse them in a series of negotiations. This makes it possible to effectively manage negotiation strategies through easy creation, retrieval, update, and deletion of negotiation strategies. In addition, we demonstrate that the negotiation system helps achieve utility-maximizing negotiation for each negotiation participant. And we also show that how effective the agent-oriented software engineering technology and mobile agent paradigm are in building an e-commerce application system, such as a negotiation system. Finally, we built and implemented a negotiation scenario according to extended version of Gaia methodology and AUML using Java languages and Telecom Italia Lab JADE class library for prototyping of the negotiating mobile agent system. As a result, with explosive expansion of B2B e-marketplaces, building a negotiation system embedding an agent-oriented software development methodology has tremendous economic effects.
