    Broadcasting is a medium for the conveyance of information and the communication among people and, for this reason, with the furtherance of cultural backing, it exercises heavy influence in a country. Along with communication service. it is a very valuable industrial asset of a country and keeps growing as a self-contained industrial sector. Since the first radio wave transmission in December of 1961, the environment of broadcasting sector in Korea is undergoing fundamental change in its structure. Opening of cable TV and local TV service in 1995 and the subsequent change in terrestrial TV broadcasting environment and the advent of satellite broadcasting service in 2002 ushered in the so-called multi-media, multi-channel age in Korea, providing the audience with diversified choices in the fields such as terrestrial wave, cable, satellite and internet services. In the multichannel environment, Digital Technology is the main source of the change. Up until recently, the audience, as passive receptors and by tuning to limited terrestrial channels, were transmitted unilaterally. But it is no longer the case. In the new TV broadcasting environment where the audience has full discretion of selecting and watching their favorite genres actively made it a habit to store several channels of their own choice to acquire necessary information and zap others. In other words, unlike conventional broadcasting service which was rendered to the major constituents of the community simultaneously, the audience now has witnessed the advent of narrowcasting age in which broadcasting channels are more specialized focusing on particularly interested target audiences. And it is no doubt that the competition among service providers will be tougher than ever. So it is critically important to have a appealing channel image among hundreds of channels. The channel image can be said as a feeling or sense of viewers about the channel by the contents of the channels' programs and its characteristic on social and cultural roles. This can bring positive results by introducing a channel identity. The channel identity is a differentiation strategy for the channel image as a whole and also for the programs itself. In this research, I drew the necessity of the channel identity in the wave of the multi-channel era induced by the digitalization. In order to define the visual system of the channel identity, I classified the visual image elements which are conveyed through the channels by key categories, I included symbol mark which were frameworks of the visual image elements, typography which is for efficient information transmission, grid system and color standards in the basic categories. Based on this basic categories, I also classified the TV graphics such as the title of unit programs, SB(Station Break) such as Spot which can play an important role in conveying the channel image into application categories. According to basic categories, I did a comparative study on the cases that the TV News channel identity was used on TV channels. I will present the outlook of the News channel identities with the establishment of visual identity of domestic news channel is aimed at in order to upgrade the quality of broadcasting service and provide channels with a futuristic vision.
