Growth characteristics and fatty acid composition of sesame varieties

    This experiment was conducted at the fields of Gyeongbuk provincial A.T.A. in 2002 to screen sesame varieties competing with "Ansankkae" in the single and double cropping. The sesame varieties showing the good growth characters such as stem length, First capsule set stem height and capsule setting number were "Jinbaeckkgae", "Annamkkae", "Namsankkae", "Seodunkkae" and "Pungankkae" in the single cropping and "Yangbaeckkgae", "Jinbaeckkgae", "Suwonkkae", "Seodunkkae", "Dasackkgae" and "Namsankkae" in the double cropping. "Jinbaeckkgae", "Annamkkae", "Yangbaeckkgae", "Seodunkkae", "Dasackkae", "Hansankkae" and "Pungankkae" showed the high yields as much as 90 to 128 kg per 10a in single cropping. "Yangbaeckkae", "Seodunkkae", "Dasackkae", "Pungankkae", "Namdakkae", "Jinbaeckkae", "Pungankkae", "Hwangbaeckkae", "Hansumkkae" and "Danbaeckkae" were the sesame varieties of high yields as much as 83 to 136 kg per 10a. "Seongbunkkae" in the single cropping and "Hwangbaeckkae" in the double cropping were the highest sesame varieties in the crude fat quantities as much as 54.7, 3.65 % respectively. Palmitic acid ratio in "Namsankkae" as 8.87 %, stearic acid ratio in "Namsankkae" as 5.81 %, linolenic acid ratio in "Mankumkkae" as 51.00 % and oleic acid ratio in "Jinjukkae" as 43.00 % were the highest respectively on fatty acid composition in single cropping. Palmitic acid ratio in " Hwangbaeckkae" as 8.58 %, stearic acid ratio in "Seodunkkae" as 5.80 %, linolenic acid ratio in "Danbaeckkae" as 46.67 %, and oleic acid ratio in "Pungsankkae" as 42.35 % were the highest respectively on fatty acid composition in double cropping.
