I have got the worries about the prosperity of Anti-Christianity in the Korea society and thought what those causes were. I thought there were many causes to theses to these phenomena, but I came to the conclusion that Korea Christian's misbehaviors were the most important causes. The cleavage between their confession of faith in church and their actions in society, the formalization of the religious life, habitualized structure of religion, fortune-seeking religious life like Shamanism, and dual situation of many christians in church and few ones in society were found easily in Korea. To add, pseudo-christianities and heresies were rampant. In these situation, the faith that apostle John witnessed in his Gospel is the important elements to the right understanding of faith and the building up of the right identity of religious life of "the believers"(Acts 2:44, 1 Thesal 1:7) is the reforming movement in theology and will be the vitality to the evangelical mission. There are two critical reasons in mentoning "the faith" in John's Gospel in this study: First, John was aimed at "the faith" in his Gospel(John 20:30-31). Second, John's thought in his Gospel is unique and comprehensive. So the right understanding of "the faith" in John's Gospel is the key to know the right faith not biased, I think. For this study, I tried to approach variously; biblically, linguistically and theologically. Consequently, I found that "the faith" in John's Gospel is different from the one in Paul's apostles and Synoptic Gospels. I also found that there was "Sits im leben" at each. "The faith" in John's Gospel is different from the one in Paul's apostles and Synoptic Gospels. Speaking rightly, not quite different, but John's faith is comprehensive. The faith in Paul's apostles is static and prerequisite to salvation and christian's life. The faith in Synoptic Gospels is noun. Considering these, we can see that Korean christians were influenced by the faith in Paul's apostles and Synoptic Gospels. The writer of John's Gospel understood the faith not from unconditional obedience of Jesus's events but from positive and active commitment to actualize after realizing the basic meaning revealed in the events and words. The faith in John's Gospel is not inner and static but active and dynamic event. Through the John's Gospel, the writer tried variously to get faith. This faith is the chain to go through the whole Gospel and make to confess Jesus-Messiah and get life. Like this "the faith" in Jesus is to get life and separate the community from the Jew and show the supremacy of the community firmly. "The faith" in John's Gospel is "πιστευ'ειν ειζ", verbal expression. This has characteristics as follow: First, "the faith" in John's Gospel is not constant and persistent. The faith has different meaning according to the situation. Sometimes that word was used, meaning "hear, see, know". This visualizes the process of Faith. Second, "the faith" in John's Gospel is thoroughly Christ-oriented. The 4 forms of πιστευ'ειν revealed Christ as Object to believe and have to believe. As thus All events were focuse on Christ. To believe Jesus is to believe God because Father is one with Son. This one itself is object of faith. Third, the Faith is the personal relationship to know the Kerygma and become one with Jesus in Faith, Namely, that is the personal relationship to know that Jesus is the Glory of God and the Revealizer and the Carrier of Grace and Truth. Faith is the absolutely-necessary element because faith does not progress without real religious experience. So "the faith" in John's Gospel is not conviction but trusting and depending realationship. That is not the problem of Gnostic illusion and abstract knowledge but dynamic and personal relationship. Considering this, "the faith" in John's Gospel is substantial. John's community that empasized "the faith" is supreme to the synogogue community because it can get life through faith. Jesus speaks the life gained through faith, the service, the attitude of love and the mission to proclaim it. Because He showed to His disciples the model of obedience to Father, sacrifice, diakonia, and service and told them to follow Him. Conclusively speaking, "the faith" in John's Gospel is the decision to respond to the calling of God and receive Jesus as Saviour. It also is behaviour to receive the request of Jesus in the world, turning to eschatological reality according to Bultman's expression, and decision to move to life from death. The deep and firm safety of faith to Jesus can be obtained from God. John's Gospel, the look of faith and the book of life will become the guide to all people to want to get life.
