In this thesis, We used the characteristic of FBG which is shifting of the center wavelength due to temperature. We made an experiment on varying the level of the DFB-LD output using the characteristic of FBG. When the temperature is raised, FBG shifts to the longer wavelength. On the other hand, FBG shifts to the shorter wavelength while the temperature drops. Thus, two FBGs are overlapped, and DFB-LD source output level is attenuated. We fabricated the FBG which was used in this experiment and realized a channel variable attenuator with 30 dB dynamic range.
