    Although the wood materials of cellulose series (waste construction material, trimmed roadside tree, waste wood and wood shavings generated in sawmill, and waste newspaper, etc.) show excellent capacities of adjusting humidity and insulating heat, they also have the disadvantages such as combustibility, rotting, warping, etc. To overcome these disadvantages, plenty of technological researches are being conducted. In this study, wasted celluloses, such as wasted newspaper and sawdust, and inorganic binder are used to produce hybrid composites. In order to use these composites as interior/exterior upholstery, their mechanical strengths and flame retardancy are tested. It's indicated from the test that, even without the addition of fire retardant materials, these composites show excellent flame retardancy satisfying the standard of UL94V-0. Therefore, it is feasible to use these environment-friendly composites as construction material.
