    The vegetation structure, site environment and soil property of Corylopsis coreana communities were carried out to gain information on the effective management for Korean endemic Corylopsis coreana of Jukgok-myeon, Ogok-myeon in Gokseong-gun, Jeonnam Province and Myeong-myeon in Jinju-city, Sancheong-eup in Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. Corylopsis coreana distributed from 150m to 800m in altitude at all study sites, it mainly distributed from 400m to 500m and facing north and northwest. 2. At the tree layer, the importance value was high Pinus densiflora in Jukgok and Myeongseok, that was high Quercus serrata, Q. mongolica, Q. variabilis in Ogok and Sancheong. The importance value was high Corylopsis coreana at subtree and shrub layer in all study sites. 3. Number of species appeared in the tree, subtree and shrub layer at study sites were 9, 26, 38 species in Jukgok, 13, 34, 29 species in Ogok, 22, 40, 37 species in Sancheong and 5, 25, 35 species in Myeongseok, respectively. 50, 25, 29 and 34 species appeared in herbaceous layer of Jukgok, Ogok, Sancheong and Myeongseok, respectively. 4. Number of individuals of Corylopsis coreana were 728 in Jukgok, 694 in Ogok, 689 in Sancheong and 685 in Myeongseok. 1∼4cm in D.B.H. distribution was majority class at all study sites. 5. The species diversity were high in the order of Ogok, Sancheong, Jukgok and Myeongseok, and dominance values were 0.491∼0.559. 6. Similarity index was the highest with 0.679 between Myeongseok and Jukgok, and was the lowest with 0.497 between Myeongseok and Sancheong. 7. By Morisita index, Corylopsis coreana showed the random distribution at the subtree and shrub layer in all study sites. 8. Soil pH was 5.35 in Jukgok, and 4.75 in Ogok and Sancheong. The content of organic matter averaged 6.26% in all study sites. Total N contents were 0.24% in Jukgok and Ogok, and 0.12% in Myeongseok. Exchangeable cations were high in the order of their content of Ca^(2+)>Mg^(2+)>K^(+)>Na^(+). EC values were ranged between 0.04 to 0.09ms/cm. From the above results, it is necessary to more positive and effective management to reserve Corylopsis coreana which was protecting with rare and endemic plant.
