Pile supported structures may be subjected to repeated lateral loaded ; wind, wave, earth pressure and water pressure. The behavior of vertical pile subjected to the lateral loads depends upon characteristics of the lateral load, geometrical and structural properties of the pile, the properties of the soil in which the pile is embedded, and the change in soil properties as the pile is loaded repetitively. The purpose of this paper is to examine characteristics of single pile behavior on the test method of the lateral loads in sand. Model tests were carried out in sand based on relative density and the test method of the lateral loads. The main obtained conclusions are summarized as follows. 1. For the single pile on the lateral loads, lateral resistance was same to value in pile-head displacement of the initial stage, but it was disagreed as pile-head displacement was increased. 2. For the single pile on the lateral loads, the maximum bending moment was largely shown the load control method than the displacement control method. And the point of maximum bending moment was shallow shown from surface as increasing relative density for the load control method, but it was not deeper from surface as increasing relative density for displacement control method. 3. β and Κh was convergence with increasing of pile-head displacement. 4. For the relative density was smaller than 60%, the allow lateral resistance was same to be not concern with test method, but it was largely shown the displacement control method than load control method for the relative density was larger than 60%.
