(A) Study on the operation and maintenance of oxidation ditch sewage

In this work it was investigated the variation of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), suspended solids (SS), total nitrogen (T-N), and total phosphorus (T-P) in inflow and discharge streams of a terminal disposal plant by oxidation ditch process at N County, GyeongNam, from January to December 2003. The principal facilities of this plant were composed by pump station, screen unit, distribution tank, oxidation ditch, final sedimentation tank, sludge storage tank and final sterilizer, and the capacity was 5,600 ㎥/day. The variation of concentration in streams was influenced by environment factors and artificial factors. In a change of seasons, water temperature was changed according to atmosphere temperature, and the concentration of pollutant was increased. In the rainy season, the flow rate and concentration of pollutants were increased. Even though some disturbances in these seasons were injected, there was no problem to maintain the plant and to keep the regulations in discharge because there was no industrial wastewater in this County.
