Effects of saururus chnensis B.and carthamus tinctorius L.on physico-chemical properties of broiler chicks

This experiment was conducted for the development of oriental feed additive in broiler chickens. It conducted experiment to investigate the effect of experimental feed added 1.0% of oriental herb medicines such as Saururus Chnensis B.(S. chnensis) and Carthamus Tinctorius L.(C. tinctorius) on growth performance, physico-chemical properties, protein expression and prevention effect of Salmonella enteritidis(S. enteritidis) in broiler chickens. The results of this study, our experiments demonstrated that chickens fed 1.0% oriental feed additive decreased feed gain, death rates compared with control treatment. Weight gain and meat color were higher in the 1.0% of oriental herb supplement group than control. The supplementation of 1.0% oriental feed additive increased unsaturated fatty acid, and reduced crude fat in the broiler chickens compared with those of control. Studies on the analysis of proteome on S. enteritidis standard strain by proteomics were conducted, and the comparison of a possible spots involved in immune response were examined using proteomics. The comparison of protein expression between control and 1% dietary supplementation group were showed that dietary supplementation group of oriental herb group detected the spot to stimulate the immune system of body in the broiler chicks. On the images of two- dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE), two differences were observed between two groups. One protein spot, was located in pI 4.66, M.W. 19.14, was observed from 1.0% oriental feed additive group compared with the control treatment, in contrast with the other protein spot (was located in pI 4.62, M.W. 39.57) was not observed. In conclusion, this study implied that experimental feed containing oriental herbal medicines such as S. Chnensis and C. Tinctorius were effective in improving broiler chickens on growth performance, physico-chemical properties, prevention of S. enteritidis and is highly recommended for increasing economic returns.
