    This article describes the synthesis and luminescent properties of novel blue light-emitting spirobifluorene containing alkoxy group in mainchain. The monomers was synthesized by direct coupling, bromination, demethylation and alkylation, etc. The polymerization of monomers were carried out by Suzuki and Yamamoto coupling reaction. Monomers and polymers were characterized by the spectroscopic methods such as UV-visible, FT-IR, and 1H-NMR spectroscopies. The resulting polymers were soluble in common organic solvents such as chloroform, chlorobenzene, dichloromethane, etc. The thermal stability of these polymers was characterized by TGA and DSC. The polymers showed high thermal stabilities with high Tg's (Tg : 128 ℃~218 ℃) Optical properties of these polymers were characterized by UV-visible, photoluminescent(PL) spectra. UV-visble and the photoluminescent(PL) properties were studied in chloroform solution and film, respectively. The polymers showed the maximum absorption at 365 nm for polymerⅠ, 374 nm for polymer Ⅱ, 339 nm for polymer Ⅲ, 376 nm for polymer Ⅳ, 382 nm for polymer Ⅴ, 378 nm for polymer Ⅵ, respectively. In the PL spectra, the polymers showed maximum peak at 434 nm~423 nm without long wavelength emission due to excimer, which usually observed in polyfluorene, and the color purity of the polymers was improved. The HOMOs, LUMOs and band gaps of polymers were 5.1~5.2 eV, 2.1~2.4 eV, and 2.7 ~3.0 eV, respectively
