(A) Study on the Effectiveness of Education for the Diminution of Food Waste of Korean Students' School Lunch Program

We analyzed the education effect for decreasing quantity of food wastes in school in this paper. According to the results of posing a question on acknowledgment rate of food and environment, it has investigated that the education effect is higher on the elementary and middle schools located in urban which have educated on nutrition education than those located in rural which have not educated on same education. It has also investigated that the elementary schools students capability of controlling the food quantity is higher than middle and high school students those. Considering above results, the educations for proper food life is essentially required for high level schools than for low level school. According to the results of investigation of taste, it is necessary for selection of menu considering students taste. Most of students preferred kinds of meet foods to other one. Kinds of Kimchi foods were not preferred to most of students taste in elementary, middle and high school. So it is necessary to consider those results in selecting a menu. Disregarding that high school students have more intelligence and acknowledgement about food waste problems, the rate of remaining food at high school was higher than at elementary and middle one. It can be conjectured that this exceptional result was occurred by the difficulties of controlling food waste considering high level students specialty. To effectively overcome these kinds of problems, the research and development is continually needed on educations for proper food life and method for effective food displacement. Considering to the results of example investigation in several schools, it is desirable that the campaign or programs for decrease of food wastes is executed by unique attribute of each school. The school food distribution has very good meanings considering the facts that this supplies essential nutrition the growing students and that increases the union partnership and eating polite. So the school food distribution should be supported through nutrition education and the campaign execution for decreasing quantity of food waste at school.
